General Information:
Choosing a telephone system is one of
the most important decisions you'll ever make. Because the telephone
is a central part of your day-to-day activity, you need a phone
system that will help you manage your calls dynamically and
efficiently.
You also need a system that is highly flexible. One that will allow
you to connect many types of phone equipment. One that will grow as
your life and needs change, without the need for costly upgrades.
The Panasonic KX-TA624 Advanced Hybrid System can answer the call.
It is a modular system with a base configuration of 3 central office
lines and 8 stations. It can easily expand to accommodate up to 6
COs and 24 stations with the addition of two plug-in cards, the
KX-TA62470 and the KX-TA62477.
The KX-TA624 works with Panasonic KX-T7000 Series telephones and
single-line devices, such as answering machines, cordless phones,
fax machines and computer modems without the need for additional
cards or modules.
Features like Caller ID compatibility1 enable more effective call
handling. You can even connect a Panasonic KX-TVS Series Voice
Processing System to the KX-TA624 without expensive software or
hardware upgrades. Panasonic Voice Processing Systems bring you
advanced voice mail features like automated attendant service,
interview service, custom service scripts and more.
Productivity. Connectivity. Expendability. Now you can have it all
with the Panasonic KX-TA624 Advanced Hybrid System.

Highlights:
Dual Port Usage
The KX-TA624 System is ready for expansion right from the start. You
can easily connect a Panasonic proprietary telephone and a
single-line device simultaneously to any single extension port. This
feature increases the cost effectiveness of your system and helps
eliminate extra wiring costs.
Caller ID Compatibility1
Displays the incoming caller's phone number or name when used with a
Panasonic KX-T7000 series display phone. Display of name may not be
available with some Caller ID services. The system can log up to 20
unanswered calls per extension. With the help of Caller ID1 and the
Call Log feature you can identify those callers when you come back
to your desk, allowing you to easily return the calls.
Flexible CO Line Buttons
The central office (CO) line buttons on each telephone in the system
can be programmed to suit the specific needs of each employee. You
can alternately program CO line buttons for Direct Station Selection
(DSS)/Busy Lamp Field (BLF, automatic dialing or one-touch access to
the feature used most often.
Automatic Redial
At the touch of a button the phone automatically redials the last
number called. This feature can be extremely helpful when you're
trying to get through to a busy party.
Proprietary Cordless Phone Integration
The Panasonic KX-T7880 cordless phone can easily integrate on a
proprietary basis with the KX-TA624 System. The KX-T7880 offers
flexible keys with indicators that can be programmed to access
central office lines. It also features intercom, redial, conference
and hold buttons on the cordless handset, providing easy access to
these functions even while you're away from the base unit.
Single Line Device Integration
The KX-TA624 allows you to connect many types of telephone
equipment, such as answering machines, cordless phones, fax machines
and computer modems, without the need for costly additional cards or
modules.
Direct Inward System Access (DISA) with Fax Detection and OGM
With the addition of a KX-TA62491 DISA with Fax Detection and OGM
Card, the KX-TA624 will provide a simplified "auto-attendant"
feature with two custom 30-second outgoing messages. After dialing
into the system callers can obtain single-digit access to extensions
or ring groups at any time during or after the outgoing message.
Callers who want to access the system's outside lines or place
intercom calls can be required to dial a security code first.
Additionally, if a fax call comes into a line that is programmed for
DISA (and a CNG tone is detected), the system will automatically
transfer the call to the designated fax extension, thereby
eliminating the need for a dedicated fax line.
Station Message Detail Recording (SMDR)
By connecting a serial printer to the system, or by attaching a call
accounting system, you can obtain a record of calls. Know who called
where, when, and for how long. Account codes may be assigned to keep
track of costs to be billed to clients, employees, projects or
departments.
Toll Restriction
The KX-TA624 can be programmed to prohibit unauthorized outgoing
long distance calls by restricting certain extensions from accessing
specified area codes or exchanges.
Voice Mail Integration
You can connect a Panasonic KX-TVS Series Voice Processing System to
the KX-TA624 system without costly software or hardware upgrades.
Give your business a highly professional edge with such features as
automated attendant, voice mail, interview service and custom
service scripts, matched to the needs of your business and its
callers.
Door Phone & Door Opener
With the addition of the optional KX-TA62460 Door Phone/Opener
Adapter Card, the KX-TA624 System can interface with up to 4 door
intercoms and 4 door contact closures for remote operation of
electric door locks. It's an ideal way to add security to your home
or small business suite. Time (Day/Night/Lunch) Service The system
can automatically switch between day, night and lunch modes at a
programmed time every day. The modes can also be changed manually by
the operator or manager at any desired time.

Frequently Asked Questions:
What's included with the base
unit? The KXTA624 is the base unit. It includes the
enclosure, power supply, base functionality (3 outside lines by
8 extensions, 3 x 8) and room for all the option cards below.
All outside line and extension connections are via 6 position, 4
conductor modular jacks along the top of the unit. The unit is
designed to mount to a wall, and plugs into a 120V AC plug. All
settings are non-volatile so the unit will not loose its
programming during a power failure. During a power failure, the
unit "shorts" outside line 1 to extension 1 as an emergency
phone. To battery-back the unit...put it on a small UPS designed
for computers.
How is the unit programmed? The unit basically works
right out of the box. It is programmed from a feature phone
(that's why at least one feature phone is required) plugged into
port 1. It's pretty easy to program...the hard part is figuring
out what all those features do! The manuals are quite
comprehensive and the unit has hundreds of programmable
features. You just mark up the provided worksheets with any the
non-default settings, and follow the display prompts on the
feature phone to enter the changes. Changes take effect
immediately and are thus very easy to test.
How do I add outside lines and extensions? You can add
one or both of the expansion boards to the base unit:
Add the KXTA6247 3x8 expansion card to end up with 6 outside
lines and 16 extension lines.
Add the KXTA6248 0x8 expansion card to end up with 3 outside
lines and 16 extension lines.
Add both the KXTA6247 and KXTA6248 expansion cards to end up
with 6 outside lines and 24 extension lines.
How does the doorphone work? The base unit supports a single
doorphone/opener card (KXTA6246). That card supports up to 4
doorphones (KXT30865) and door openers (a contact closure). The
doorphones themselves consist of a speaker, microphone, and a
doorbell button. Each doorphone connects to the system unit via
a single pair of wires.
What is DISA/OGM? Direct Inward System Access/OutGoing
Message. It is simply a fairly simple "auto attendant" card for
the base unit. With this card, you can record a single level
voice menu to help "direct" callers. This feature is actually
quite flexible in implementation...as long as you understand
that there is only a single level of menu.
How is the caller ID handled? If you add one caller ID
card (KXTA624A) per each three outside lines coming into your
system, the system will display caller ID information on your
display feature phones. Note that the original caller ID
information is sent to the feature phones over the digital link,
not the analog link (as it came in). So your own caller ID
devices will not work when plugged into extension ports.
What kind of feature phones should I use? The most
popular phone is the KXT7720 (available in black and white, see
below). It is the least expensive phone that provides the
features most people want, such as hands-free-answer, paging
through the phone speakers, a display, and lots of programmable
keys for speed dial, direct outside line access, direct
extension access, and special feature access. The more expensive
version, the KXT7730, has a backlit display.
How about regular phones? You can use your regular phones
connected to the same extension as a single feature phone, and
connected to an extension by themselves. Note, however, that you
cannot "page" through a standard phone's speaker as you can
through the KXT77720, KXT7730, and KXT7735 phones. If you want
to use the "paging through phones" feature, you should sprinkle
enough of the feature phones around that they can be heard from
anywhere in the house.
